TABLE TALK FOR DECEMBER 2007 AND JANUARY 2008
NOTE: There are two meetings ahead, one remaining in the month of December and one in January.
MEETING ON 18 DECEMBER This
meeting features Pat Dilts of Competitive Solutions, an international consulting and training firm She will discuss "Leadership and Team Building." She will outline a proved method of
business alignment designed to enable and assure excellence in areas such as communications and accountability.
Also at this meeting, there will be a slate of officers nominated for the upcoming year of 2008. In addition to
the slate presented, the chair will recognize other nominations made from the floor. Upon closing the nominations the chair will ask for a vote by a show of hands. He will announce the
individuals elected. Actually the officers, other than the President, Secretary, and Treasurer, are the additional leadership individuals who guide the organization in various capacities.
MEETING ON 22 JANUARY This is
the 2008 meeting devoted to income tax questions for state and federal returns. The meeting is handled ably by our member, Don Vander Hey, whose business is advising small businesses about
tax ramifications and prepares their tax returns every year.
EARLIER MEETINGS On 20 November
Mary Sue Freitag spoke on how Indiana employers can take advantage of Training Acceleration Grants (TAG). Ms. Freitag represents the Business Services Division of Indiana's
Department of Workforce Development. Her division provides 100-percent-reimbursable training grants to help train and certify Hoosier workers.
On 4 December Tom Carson and Rae German, both of whom are with 360 Associates, Inc., St. Joseph, MI spoke on how
to survive in the consulting world of business. 360 is a group of retired executives who have much to give as advisors to small and medium-sized businesses. The "Tom and Rae" show recommended
that consultants find a niche market for their services. Each consultant likely has a specialty from which he or she cam provide positive help to a client.
THAT INFAMOUS CONSULTANT, PETER DRUCKER, SAYS: There are an enormous number of managers who have retired on the job! [Editor's note: Many of them become unemployed consultants!]
